College of Science - Physics & Astronomy - Mary E. Mogge Scholarship

Dr. Mary E. Mogge taught in the Department of Physics at Cal Poly Pomona for more than thirty years (1979-2014) and served as the department chair for six years (2001-2007). She was the first in her family to attend college and is passionate about helping support other first-generation students who are interested in continuing their studies in the field of Physics. The goal of the Dr. Mary E. Mogge Physics Scholarship is to provide financial relief to students who are responding to challenges, issues, and events affecting underrepresented communities.

Criteria:

  • Must be Sophomore, Junior or Senior standing during award period
  • Must be a Physics major
  • Must be full-time (12+ units) at the time of applying and during the award period
  • Must have an Overall GPA of 2.5 or above AND must have a GPA in Major of 3.0 or above
  • Must have demonstrated need as determined by financial aid application for upcoming year [Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act Application (CADAA) ]
  • Student must have completed the Physics intro sequence (or the equivalent of 3 calculus-based Physics courses); and while at Cal Poly Pomona must have completed at least one sophomore or higher-level Physics class.

1 year renewable (pending student meets requirements)

Preference is given to first generation students.

This scholarship is open to non-California residents and non-U.S. citizens.
