College of Science - Biological Sciences - Pathway to Success Biological Science Scholarship

The Pathway to Success Biological Sciences Scholarship provides support to Biological Science majors in the College of Science.

ELIGIBILITY

• Applicants must be Biology, Biotechnology, or Environmental Biology majors in the Department of Biological Sciences
• Applicants must be enrolled full-time or part-time at the time that scholarship is disbursed
• Minimum Cumulative GPA of 2.0
• Scholarship is renewable for multiple years (previous recipients can apply for future years as long as they meet the stated criteria)

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Application form: Applicants must complete the Cal Poly Pomona General Application and all requirements below.
2) Personal statement: Each applicant must write an approximately 1000-word essay describing an outstanding achievement in biological sciences that they are working towards. A competitive essay will include 1) a clearly defined achievement that you are aiming for, 2) a discussion of any challenges that may arise, and 3) a well- thought-out plan for reaching that goal. The competitive essay will also include a discussion of how this scholarship will help the student achieve their goal.
3) Resume or curriculum vitae: Submit a complete and up-to-date resume (or curriculum vitae).
4) Transcripts: Submit a transcript of your coursework at Cal Poly Pomona as well as transferred coursework from other schools (unofficial transcripts are accepted).

SCHOLARSHIP SELECTION AND AWARD NOTIFICATION DATE
A committee comprised of faculty members of the Biological Sciences Department will review the applications and select the scholarship recipient. The scholarship recipient will be notified at the end of April, and the scholarship will be presented near the end of the Spring Semester at the Biological Sciences Department Awards Ceremony.

In addition to the scholarship, the scholarship recipient will be given a certificate of recognition, and their name will be added to a perpetual plaque of commendation in the Biological Sciences Department Office.
