ENV - Landscape Architecture - Leslie Redick Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship supports MLA students who are committed to leadership in habitat conservation and/or community service.
Leslie Redick MLA ’02 led the Vegetation Management program at The Sea Ranch, an intentional California coastal community whose masterplan was created in 1965 by noted landscape architect Lawrence Halprin. Continuing Halprin’s dictum to “live lightly on the land”, Redick guided the maintenance and restoration of second growth redwood forests, grassland meadows, riparian corridors, and coastal bluffs that make up The Sea Ranch landscape.
Redick set an early course as a person who gave of her talents when she joined the Peace Corps as an agricultural volunteer in Mauritania from 1984-86. Perhaps it was this experience that stimulated her to travel across the world in later years. When she settled in The Sea Ranch, she quickly became well known in the community as a doer and volunteer who left her mark on the hearts of friends and colleagues alike.
