College of Science - CS - Alvarez/Microsoft First Generation Scholarship

This scholarship of $2,000 is for continuing Computer Science majors who are passionate about Computer Science with calculated financial need. Five scholarships, each in the amount of $2,000 will be awarded. Students who have been involved with promoting cross-cultural understanding, helping educationally disadvantaged students, or academic interest in topics such as race, gender, and multiculturalism as they intersect with traditional academic fields are encouraged to apply.

Award Period: Fall 2024 and Spring 2025

Criteria:

• Full-time or half-time Computer Science major classified at Undergraduate level at the time of applying and at time of disbursement
• Cumulative GPA AND Major GPA must be greater than or equal to 3.0
• Good academic standing with the University
• Demonstrate financial need (Based on submitted FAFSA or California Dream Act Application)
• Preference to first-generation, disadvantaged or low-income students
• One letter of recommendation
• Current resume
• Students graduating during the application period are not eligible to apply. Must be enrolled for the entire upcoming year to receive disbursement.
• Answer and provide all supplemental questions after completing your general application
