College of Science- Ernest Prete Jr. Fellowship Application

The Prete Fellowship program is an opportunity for students to engage with students from an elementary school in our community, support the sustainability of urban gardening, gain an understanding of the expectations of teachers in a modern society, and explore if the teaching profession may match their career aspirations.

The Prete Fellowship program engages CPP students’ interest and motivates them to achieve academically, and pursue careers in science, mathematics and technology, including the teaching profession. In addition, the Prete Fellows will become active members of a community creating environmentally responsible and literate citizens who individually and collectively, help ensure an ecologically and economically sustainable environment.

Award Period: 2024-2025

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Open to continuing undergraduate STEM, or Liberal Studies, major with at least 25 units completed OR-
    continuing graduate STEM major with at least 12 units completed
  • Must be enrolled as a full-time student during the award period (undergraduate: minimum of 12 units and graduates: minimum of 6 units)
  • Overall GPA must be 3.0 or greater
  • Must be available for 10 hours per week and attend 5 workshops during the award period

If you are selected as a recipient, you will be required to complete a background check/live scan. You will also be required to have a current negative TB test (all are free of charge once selected)

Recipients must be enrolled in Fall and Spring to be considered. Fall graduates are not eligible to apply
