Alumni Association Merit Scholarship

Chartered in 1972, the Cal Poly Pomona Alumni Association supports student success by awarding multiple scholarships to current students.

This award is for fall 2020

  • Open to all majors
  • Open to Sophomore, Junior, Senior & Graduates
  • Maintain minimum of 3.0 GPA in 2019-2020, 2020-2021
  • Must be a full-time student in 2019-2020, 2020-2021
  • Be a California Resident
  • Must provide ONE letter of recommendation (please ask recommenders to email their letters to Samantha Chow at in the Office of Alumni and External Relations if they are unable to submit online)
  • Answer all supplemental questions after completing your general application

Awards each year are based on the student’s general application and supplemental responses consisting of academic and co-curricular excellence, letters of recommendation and essay content.

Please note: When applying to multiple Alumni Scholarships, you may use the same Letter of Recommendation, even if the recommender is the same person. However, you are required to submit the letter for each opportunity as they are separate.

Supplemental Questions
  1. Please request ONE letter of recommendation SPECIFICALLY for this scholarship. The letter of recommendation must come from a Cal Poly Pomona or CSU alumna/us. (Please speak to your reference first before you request a letter from him/her/them). They can address their letter as follows: "Dear Scholarship Committee". Note, the two letters you requested as part of your General Application will not be counted. If the letter is not submitted before or on the deadline date, your application will not be considered for this scholarship.
    • Enter the name and e-mail address of a reference provider who has agreed to write a letter of recommendation for you.
