CEIS - Project SEEDS

Project SEEDS awards will be open to new students only, and scholars must be working on their first credential and/or Adapted Physical Education (APE) Added Authorization certificate. If awarded a SEEDS grant, funding will continue throughout your credential AND Master’s programs.

Acceptable program pathways are as follows:

  1. Education Specialist (Moderate/Severe ONLY)
  2. Single Subject PE/APE
  3. Multiple Subject/APE (*Individuals on this pathway are required to complete twelve semester units of physical education coursework with a minimum of three semester units in both kinesiology and motor
    development along with the APE Added Authorization program courses.)
  4. Education Specialist/APE (*Individuals on this pathway are required to complete twelve semester units of physical education coursework with a minimum of three semester units in both kinesiology and
    motor development along with the APE Added Authorization program courses.)
  5. Adapted Physical Education Added Authorization (if you already hold a CA Single Subject PE teaching credential. If you hold a CA Education Specialist or Multiple Subject teaching credential you are
    required to complete twelve semester units of physical education coursework with a minimum of three semester units in both kinesiology and motor development along with the APE Added Authorization
    program courses.)

Applicants may be teacher interns or traditional scholars.

Criteria:

  • Must be working on your first credential or APE Added Authorization certificate
  • Can be a teacher intern or traditional scholar
  • Undergraduate GPA should be of 3.0 or higher
  • Must have passed the California Subject Examinations for Teachers (CSET) OR present evidence of subject matter competency
  • Two letters of recommendation must be completed by references on your behalf.
  • U.S Citizenship, Permanent Residency, or proof of being in the U.S. temporary with the intention of becoming a citizen or permanent resident (DACA, AB 540)
  • Successful interview with SEEDS faculty

There is a federal service obligation connected to accepting Project SEEDS funding. You will be expected to teach for two years in either a Moderate/Severe or APE setting for each year of funding you receive. Details can be found here: https://pdp.ed.gov/OSEP/Content/pdf/2006faq.pdf

NOTE: If selected as a recipient, you will have to abide to other scholarship agreements not specified in this application due to the lack of space or ability to upload all documents disclosing the scholarship guidelines. If you are selected as a recipient and you wish to terminate the scholarship agreement process before it has been finalized with the department lead, you will not be penalized in any way that will affect you, your other scholarship applications, or your education here at Cal Poly Pomona.
