Sci - Geology - Henderson-Valles Geosciences Scholarship

The Henderson — Valles Scholarship in the Geosciences honors Dr. Gerald V. Henderson, former Professor &
Chair of the Geological Sciences Department, and Mr. Peter K. Valles, Geology graduate, class of 1983. Dr.
Henderson was most interested in fostering faculty-mentored student research. Mr. Peter Valles is very
appreciative of his undergraduate education and wishes to maintain a connection with the program’s students.

Geology faculty have been given great latitude and discretion in the awarding of one or more Henderson —
Valles Scholarships. The desire and intent is to annually present an award(s). The total of all the gifts in a
given year will not exceed $750. It is possible in any given year not to expend all $750 or not to make any awards.

This award is for the 2017-2018 academic year.

• Must be a Junior or Senior majoring in Geology (must complete at least 90 units at the end of June 2018)
• Must be in Good Academic Standing at the University – GPA must be greater than of equal to 2.0
• Citizenship or Permanent Residency not required

Note: The award will be presented at the Geology’s annual Alumni Reunion on May 5th, 2018 (location TBD).
