PolyTransfer - Crankstart Scholarship for California Community College Transfer Students and The Bernard Osher Scholarship

Please Note: Your scholarship application will be considered for the Crankstart or the Bernard Osher scholarship, not both. If you are a recipient and will be enrolled in the next academic year, this scholarship may be renewable if funds are available.

Crankstart Scholarship Description:
The Crankstart Foundation was established in 2000 by husband and wife, Michael Moritz and Harriet Heyman. Michael Moritz is a businessman and venture capitalist with Sequoia Capital. Prior to Sequoia, Moritz was a reporter for Time Magazine and author. Harriet Heyman is a former journalist for The New York Times and a novelist. Michael Moritz and Harriet Heyman have committed to The Giving Pledge, and have pledged to give away at least half of their wealth to philanthropy.

Criteria:

  • Must have transferred to Cal Poly Pomona within the last four years from a CA Community College
  • Must be pursuing an undergraduate degree in any major
  • Students must be in Good Academic Standing (2.0 GPA or above)
  • Must demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA or DREAM Act application
  • Enrollment must be at least half-time at the time the award is given

The Crankstart Scholarship is designated specifically to pay a portion of basic tuition. Eligibility for other fee-specific paying financial aid/resources such as Cal Grant or State University Grant you are receiving may be affected if you are selected to receive this scholarship award.

Bernard Osher Scholarship Description:
In 2012, to complement the scholarship program for California Community College (CCC) students, the Bernard Osher Foundation provided individual endowment gifts to 21 California State University and University of California institutions to support scholarships for students transferring from a CCC to those baccalaureate campuses.

Criteria:

  • Eligible students should be transferring or have transferred from a CCC with at least 60-semester or 90-quarter units
  • Must be entering the institution at the junior level or above
  • Must demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA or DREAM Act application

The Bernard Osher Scholarship is designated specifically to pay a portion of basic tuition and fees. Eligibility for other fee-specific paying financial aid/resources such as Cal Grant or State University Grant you are receiving may be affected if you are selected to receive this scholarship award.
